Trojanettes win two in tournament

The Barren County Trojanettes won two and lost two volleyball matches Saturday in tournament action. 

Barren County defeated Casey County 2-0 and Perry County Central 2-0 in the McCreary Central Invitational. 

The Trojanettes lost to the host school 2-0, and also fell to East Jessamine 2-0. 

Barren County(5-2) will play at Glasgow at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. 

 

Scotties fall in tourney final

The Glasgow Scotties split a pair of matches in the Franklin-Simpson Wildcat Cup on Saturday. 

The Scotties lost to John Hardin 3-2 in the second game Saturday after beating the host school Franklin-Simpson 6-1 in the opening round. 

Against John Hardin, Grant Gatlin and Hudson Davis scored goals for the Scotties, with Yahir Molina and Martin Martinez each credited with an assist. 

In the Franklin-Simpson match, Jackson Bower scored three goals to lead the Scotties. Molina added two goals and Alex Elizalde also scored a goal for Glasgow(3-2). 

The Scotties are slated to play at LaRue County this Saturday. 

 

Local teams fall in All ‘A’ Classic 

The Monroe County Lady Falcons defeated Metcalfe County 2-1 on Saturday in the first volleyball match of the 4th Region All ‘A’ Classic. 

But the Lady Falcons couldn’t get past Todd County Central in the second game. The Lady Rebels beat Monroe County 2-1(25-19, 21-25, 25-15). 

Glasgow also won its first match of the 4th Region All ‘A’ on Saturday, defeating Russellville 2-0. 

But Clinton County knocked off Glasgow in the second match 2-0. 

 

Caverna, Monroe County lose 

The Class 2A Monroe County Falcons and Class 1A Caverna lost their first football games of the season Friday. 

Caverna fell at home to Class 3A Hart County 44-12. 

Senior quarterback Drew Rhodes threw for a touchdown and ran for another score for the Colonels, who will host Shawnee at 7:30 p.m. Friday. 

Monroe County lost at Johnson County(Tennessee) 33-0. 

The Falcons will play Hart County on Friday in the first game of the Trojan Trail Turf War at Barren County High School.
