Open Gym Basketball

Beginning Feb. 5, the Glasgow Recreation Department will be offering an Open Gym Basketball night from 6 to 8 p.m. The fee will be $2 per person. The open gym is for ages 16 and up. However participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian’s signature before they can play.



Mid-Day Madness

The Glasgow Recreation Department is offering an Open Gym Basketball shoot around in the lower gym from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. The fee will be $2 per person each day. The open gym is for ages 18 and up.

Lady Spikesters Volleyball

Registration for the Girls Lady Spikesters Volleyball League ends Feb. 1. If you are interested contact us this week to signup. This volleyball league is for girls 14 – 18 years of age, beginning or experienced players. League play will begin in February and games will be played on Saturday mornings. The cost for this league is $20 per child, or $15 per child if more than one child per family signs up.



Junior Olympic Skills Competition

The Glasgow Recreation Department will be offering a Junior Olympic Basketball Skills Competition on Feb. 9, from 9 a.m. until noon. The Junior Olympic Skills Competition is a free national grassroots skills competition that provides both boys and girls, ages 8 to 13, the opportunity to showcase their athletic abilities. The skills competition encourages youth participation in sport and emphasizes fair and friendly competition. Youngsters can participate in any or all of the individual sports and advance through three levels of competition, including local, regional and the national finals at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. Each sport is scored individually and the boys and girls compete separately.

This is your opportunity to join the Olympic movement and participate in the official youth skills competition of the U.S. Olympic Team. Participants may register on Saturday, Feb. 9.

Champions from this local qualifying event will advance to one of the regional competitions across the country in hopes of advancing to the National Finals.



Adventure Club

The Glasgow Recreation Department Adventure Club is hosting a Rock Climbing event on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 9 until 11 a.m. at Climb Nashville. We will have the facility for these two hours for our group only. Instructors will give a 30-minute Belay class to make sure everyone is familiar with the gear. All ages are welcome. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $20 per climber.

Climb Nashville offers 13,000 sq. ft. of climbing space with walls ranging from 20 to 40 feet, and a variety of 50 different ropes and climbing holds.



1,000 Mile Walk Club

The 1,000 Mile Walk Club registration continues until Thursday. You may register at the Recreation Department office at 309 S. Liberty St. The Walk Club is open to any who wish to enjoy the health benefits of walking. Cost is $15 per person. Members who walk 1,000 miles between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 will receive a custom-designed sweatshirt. Weekly miles walked can be called in every Friday to the Recreation Department office at 651-3811 or 651-9012. There will be awards given at 100, 300, 500, 700, 900 and 1,000 miles walked. The first walker to reach 1,000 miles will be given a special award for their accomplishment.
