The Glasgow Lady Scotties had another tough night shooting the ball en route to a 62-37 loss at Hart County on Thursday.

Glasgow made only 3 of 16 shots in the first quarter and fell behind the Lady Raiders 16-6.

“From the beginning, we dug ourselves into a hole. I drilled in the girls’ heads, especially on somebody else’s home floor, (it’s) hard to come back,” first-year Glasgow coach Lavonda Johnson said. “The girls fought back from that moment and cut it to four, then that third quarter killed us.”

The Lady Scotties only trailed by seven (23-16) at halftime.

Erica Smith scored the first basket of the second half for Hart County and pushed her team’s lead to 25-16.

Glasgow answered with a 4-0 run on a pair of free throws by Kayla Foster and basket by Ashley Johnson that cut the lead to 25-20 with 6:29 to play in the third quarter.

The Lady Raiders took control of the game after that.

A 3-pointer by Lindsey Highbaugh sparked a 24-5 run for the remainder of the third period.

Highbaugh scored 11 of her 19 points during the run, while Megan Isaacs posted six of her game-high 24 points. Isaacs also had 12 rebounds.

“We’re learning and we’re just going to have to learn how to make it through these situations,” Johnson said.

The Lady Scotties finished the game hitting only 16 of 54 from the field, including 1 of 20 from 3-point range.

Ashley Johnson led Glasgow with 12 points, while Foster scored nine and had nine rebounds.

Savannah Trent added 11 points for Hart.

The Lady Raiders shot 23 of 55 from the field, including 7 of 23 from behind the arch.

Glasgow had an early 2-1 lead in the game, which was its only lead.

Hart County answered with a 13-0 run that was capped by a 3-pointer from Highbaugh with just under three minutes to play in the opening period.

Ashley Johnson broke the run with a put back off the offensive glass with 1:47 left in the first quarter.

Glasgow’s boys and girls return to action tonight with games at Bowling Green. The boys game will begin at 6 p.m. with the girls to follow.
