Lady Scotties finish runner-up in All 'A' golf; Glasgow up a spot in football poll

The Glasgow Lady Scotties finished as state runner-up in the All 'A' Classic golf tournament held Saturday in Richmond. 

Glasgow's team finished with a score of 338, second to Lexington Christian Academy's 299. 

Owensboro Catholic finished third with a team score of 347. 

Glasgow's team is comprised of Abbie Lee, Nina McMurtrey, Allie McCoy, Bailey Birdsell and Graycen Flatt. 

Lee tied for third overall in individual play with a 75. She was tied with Monroe County's Connor Geralds. 

The Glasgow boys' team finished seventh overall in the tournament. Team members are Ethan Harlow, Drew Richardson, Clay Pippen, Bo Shelton and Gage Burd. 

Glasgow up one spot in poll 

The 3-0 Glasgow Scotties moved up a spot in this week's Associated Press Class 3A football poll. 

Glasgow is ranked sixth following a 57-14 win over Monroe County on Friday night. The Scotties will travel to Allen County-Scottsville this week. 

Louisville Christian Academy is ranked No. 1 in Class 3A followed by Belfry, Bell County, Ashland Blazer and Louisville Desales. 

Glasgow wins four in tournament

The Glasgow Lady Scotties picked up four wins Saturday during the Metcalfe County Slam Jam volleyball tournament. 

Glasgow defeated Metcalfe County(2-1), Adair County(2-1), Monroe County(2-1) and Butler County(2-1). 

The Lady Scotties did lose one match, falling to Danville 2-1. 

The host school, Metcalfe County, defeated Danville(2-0) while falling to Glasgow(2-1) and North Hardin(2-0). 

Hornets lose close game to Russell County 

For the second straight week, the Class 2A Metcalfe County Hornets lost a close football game. 

The Hornets lost on the road Friday 28-26 to Russell County after falling 22-16 to Breckinridge County the previous week. 

Devan Alderson ran for 103 yards for the Hornets. Gabe Zurmehly rushed for 75 yards and two score for Metcalfe County(0-3), while quarterback Peyton Dial and Zurmehly each threw for a touchdown. 

The Hornets will travel to Adair County this Friday. 

In other local action, Class 1A Caverna lost to Class 1A Berea 44-21 on Saturday. 

Quarterback Drew Rhodes threw for two touchdowns for the Colonels(1-2), while Mark Webb ran for 95 yards and a score. 

Caverna will host Breckinridge County on Saturday.
