Glasgow committed 26 turnovers and shot 20.6 percent from the field in a 72-23 loss to Allen County-Scottsville on Tuesday night.

The Lady Scotties hit just seven field goals in the game while the Lady Patriots shot 50 percent from the field on 26-of-52 shooting.

The first quarter started out with a jumper and steal by Charli Fant as the Lady Scotties took an early 4-0 lead.

But it would be all Lady Patriots from there on. Allen used a 12-0 run to take command before Brittany Vaughn’s 3-pointer cut the lead to 20-7 to end the first quarter.

The Lady Scotties shooting woes continued in the second quarter as they missed three straight free throws to start the frame. Allen turned up the defensive pressure that led to several Lady Scottie turnovers. Glasgow trailed 39-11 at the half.

“What really hurt us tonight was, one, our ball handling and, two, our execution,” said Glasgow coach Chris Crain.

The Lady Patriots continued to apply defensive pressure on the Lady Scotties at the beginning of the third quarter.

Glasgow fell to 6-8 overall and 0-3 in district play with the loss. Allen improved to 9-7 and 1-2.

“We are going to have to get back to the basics,” said Crain. “Just as soon as I think we are playing well as a team and coming together, to take a hard loss like this on the road, it completely deflates our confidence and everything we have right now.”

The Lady Scotties take the floor again on Thursday with a 7 p.m. game at Hart County.
