Metcalfe County rallied in the fourth quarter for a 67-66 road victory over Cumberland County on Tuesday night.

The Hornets trailed 52-49 entering the fourth quarter before outscoring the Panthers by four in the final frame for the one point win.

Trey Shirley led Metcalfe (12-1) with 21 points, while Will Warf had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Jeffrey White added 13 points as well.

Metcalfe shot 41.9 percent from the field in the win. The Hornets outrebounded the Panthers 33-30 and held an 18-15 advantage in points off turnovers. Metcalfe had eight steals on the night and committed 11 turnovers, while Cumberland had 15 turnovers in the loss.

Cumberland led 18-17 after the first quarter before Metcalfe outscored the Panthers by eight in the second to take a 36-29 lead at the half.

The Panthers caught fire in the third while limiting the Hornets to just 13 points as they took a three point lead.

The Hornets return to action Friday when they host Clinton County at 7:45 p.m.
