The Glasgow Lady Scotties had no answer for Warren Central’s 6’3” Alicia Bunton on Monday.

Bunton posted a triple-double with 14 points, 16 rebounds and 11 blocks to lead the Lady Dragons to a 60-39 win at Glasgow.

Both the Scotties and the Lady Scotties will return to action tonight with games at Metcalfe County. The first game will tip at 6 p.m.

“I thought the blocks killed us a lot. (and) rebounding was definitely a killer,” Glasgow head coach LaVonda Johnson said. “I thought we did a good job on (not letting) her score.”

In the first half the game could have swung either way, but Central pieced together a 10-2 run midway through the third quarter to take control of the contest.

Glasgow (4-18) trailed by three at halftime and by three after Charli Fant hit a 3-pointer with 4:22 to go in the third that cut the Lady Scotties’ deficit to 33-30.

The Lady Dragons (10-11) answered with the 10-2 run that was sparked by a basket from Ashley Haley, who also finished with 14 points, and a steal that led to a basket by Dionda Anthony.

At the end of the run, with 1:11 to play in the third period, Central led 43-32.

The lead was 43-33 to open the fourth quarter, but Central scored the first basket and Glasgow never got the lead under 10 points again. The Lady Dragons eventually pulled away for the lopsided win as Glasgow managed to score only six points in the fourth quarter.

Bunton’s presence inside appeared to influence the Lady Scotties’ shooting. They hit only 16 of 59 from the field, including 1 of 10 from 3-point range. Meanwhile, the Lady Dragons hit 23 of 47 and 3 of 9 from behind the arch.

Kayla Foster led the Lady Scotties with 10 points, while Fant scored nine and Ashley Johnson posted eight points. Ashley Wooten led Glasgow on the boards with seven rebounds.

A coin flip will be held on Wednesday to determine the third and fourth seeds in the Girls 15th District Tournament. Also, a coin flip will be needed to decide both the first and second seed and the third and fourth seed for the boys.
