The actions of sheriff's office personnel from Barren and Metcalfe counties resulted in the arrest of two individuals Thursday after an alleged carjacking incident at the Dollar General Store along U.S. 68-Ky. 80 East, at Veterans Outer Loop.
BCSO received the complaint at approximately 9:27 a.m., and Deputy Tyler Maxey was told by a person that she was approached by a male, later identified as Jody Tucker, 18, of Cave City, and a female after she came outside the store, and the male demanded that she give up her keys, according to a Barren County Sheriff's Office press release Thursday afternoon.
“The male began to strike her in the face and forcibly took her keys and the male and female fled north on 68-80 toward Edmonton. A BOLO (be on the lookout for) was put out to surrounding counties. Metcalfe County Sheriff's Office made contact with the vehicle and began pursuing it into Edmonton where the vehicle wrecked.
The adult male and juvenile female were then taken into custody,” according to the press release.
Found in their possession were the clothes described by the victim, methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both suspects complained of injuries from the wreck and were transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital, where they were treated for their injuries and released and then taken into custody by BCSO, all according to the press release.
Tucker remained lodged at the Barren County Detention Center as of Friday morning in lieu of a $25,000 cash bond. He is facing a dozen charges, including first-degree robbery, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and driving while intoxicated, according to the jail website.
