A Monroe County woman has been arrested on a murder charge after police said she stabbed her boyfriend in the early morning hours Wednesday during a domestic dispute at 201 W. Carmen St. in Tompkinsville.

When Sgt. Jordan Tyler Page with the Tompkinsville Police Department arrived on the scene, he found a man inside the residence with several apparent stab wounds. The man, 64-year-old Murrel Pruitt,  died from his injuries, according to a Tompkinsville Police Department press release.

Joanne Tooley, 56, was charged with one count of murder(domestic violence) and lodged in the Barren County Detention Center, according to the jail's website. 

The investigation into the incident continues. More information will be released once the investigation is complete, the press release said.
