A two-vehicle crash in Monroe County has claimed the life of a Tennessee woman.
The crash occurred around 6 p.m. on Wednesday along the Celina Road when a northbound 2001 Honda driven by Tina Stephens, 60, of Celina, Tennessee crossed into the southbound lane of traffic and struck a 1996 Buick driven by William Young, 33, of Muncie, Indiana, head-on, said a Kentucky State Police press release.
Young and a passenger in his vehicle, Courtney Young, 33, also of Muncie, were transported by Air Evac medical helicopter to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville where they are listed in critical condition. Both were wearing their seat belts, the press release said.
Stephens was transported to the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville where she was pronounced dead by the Monroe County coroner. Stephens was not wearing a seat belt, according to a witness’ statement, the press release said.
The crash is being investigated by KSP Trooper Jonathan Paull, who was assisted at the scene by other state police personnel, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Monroe County Emergency Medical Service, the press release said.
