A 15-year-old Wingfield teenager died Monday when a pickup truck struck an ATV that was pulling the go-cart he was riding in, according to officials with the Kentucky State Police.

Andrew Basham, 15, was pronounced dead at the scene by Edmonson County Coroner Ed Minnard.

The ATV driver, 16-year-old Wil Cannon, of Wingfield, was transported by ambulance to the Medical Center at Bowling Green and treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.

State police said Jesse Wolf, 21, also of Wingfield, was traveling northbound near the 4000 block of Wingfield Church Road in Edmonson County in a 2001 Ford Ranger truck sometime around 7:30 p.m. on Monday when he struck from behind an ATV pulling a go-cart.

The ATV and the go-cart came to rest in a ditch on the east side of the roadway, authorities said.

Wolf was not injured in the collision. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

According to state police reports, it’s unclear if Cannon or Basham were wearing helmets when the accident occurred.
