The Glasgow-Barren County Industrial Development Economic Authority has named its new executive director.

Stephen Earl Biggers, the executive vice president of the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce from 1989 to 1993, will fill the vacancy left by Scott Luth, who resigned from the post in October.

After leaving the area chamber, Biggers moved to Franklin, Tenn., where he served as the vice president of recruiting for Journal Communications, an economic development publishing company, from 1993 to 1998.

Since 1998, Biggers has been the operations manager and buyer for J.J. Ashley's Fine Furnishings, a business he helped his wife, Lisa, start when they moved to Franklin.

Biggers, a native of Barren County, is a 1992 graduate of the Institute for Organizational Management from the University of Georgia and a 1988 graduate of Western Kentucky University, with a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communications.

In 1989, he also received a master’s degree in Organizational Communications from WKU.
