Kentucky Department for Local Government has awarded $1 million in Community Development Block Grant funds to help fund sewer improvements in Monroe County.

The announcement was made Friday afternoon by Sandra Dunahoo, DLG commissioner, in Tompkinsville.

The CDBG grant, along with a $861,148 loan from the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority, a $500,000 grant from the Appalachian Resource Commission, $10,000 from the Monroe County Board of Education and about $3,000 in tap fees, will be used to complete a funding package of more than $2.3 million.
