– Man found guilty in arson, death

A Logan County jury deliberated for 12 hours Thursday before finding a Russellville man guilty of first-degree arson in a fire last September that killed a small child and badly injured another, Kentucky State Police said.

Robert Yell, 28, was convicted of arson, first and fourth-degree assault, second-degree manslaughter, and being a persistent felony offender.

Police said Yell set fire to his Logan County house on Sept. 11, 2004, after a domestic dispute with his girlfriend, April Carpenter Davis.

The resulting fire caused the death of 23-month-old Cameron Carpenter and seriously injured Sarah Lynn Yell, a press release said.
