RUSSELLVILLE - Monroe County survived a three-team playoff to advance to the state championship.

The Falcons, Russellville and Bowling Green each shot 311 as a team at the conclusion of 18 holes. Russellville won the one-hole team playoff to win the regional title, while Monroe finished second. Both Russellville and Monroe advance to next week’s state championship at Bowling Green Country Club, while Bowling Green will sit at home.

Monroe’s Matthew Anderson also won individual medalist honors with a 71. Franklin-Simpson’s John McDonald shot a 73 to finish as the runner-up. McDonald, along with Bowling Green’s Robert Kirby and Bryan Jaska, who each shot a 74, advance to the state tournament as individuals.

Glasgow finished seventh with a 332. Caverna tied for ninth with a 347 and Barren County finished two strokes behind the Colonels to finish 11th with a 349. Metcalfe County shot 397 as a team and finished 17th.
