Two Glasgow men are facing DUI charges after their involvement in two unrelated wrecks on separate days.
The Barren County Sheriff's office responded to a wreck on New Bowling Green Road at approximately 9:30 p.m. Friday, and David Houchens, 58, was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital, before being transferred to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. Houchens was cited on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense, and leaving the scene of an accident, all according to a BCSO press release.
This is not the same David Houchens who was formerly with the BCSO and now works for the Cave City Police Department.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. Saturday, BCSO responded to injury accident at Lick Branch Road and Hollow Road.
The preliminary investigation found that 24-year-old Tyler Scott of Burkesville Road was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala east on Hollow Road, with his passenger Brooke Pierce, 26, of Honeysuckle Lane, when Scott failed to stop at the intersection with Lick Branch.
Scott's vehicle struck a 2007 Mercury that was traveling south on Lick Branch Road, operated by 61-year-old Mark Reed of Lick Branch Road.
Scott, Reed, and the latter's 4-year-old passenger were transported by Barren-Metcalfe County Emergency Medical Services to T.J. Samson Community Hospital. All three were later discharged.
Scott was cited on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, first offense; wanton endangerment, first degree; no insurance; and expired registration plate, all according to a second BCSO press release, which added that BCSO was assisted by the East Barren volunteer fire department.
