SUMMERSVILLE — The Kentucky State Police in Bowling Green received a call just after 2:18 p.m. Tuesday in regards to a fatal residential structure fire.
A person was found by state police troopers and detectives in a detached garage/barn that had been destroyed by the fire. The person has been identified as Freddie A. Wells, 67, of Summersville. Identification of the victim was confirmed by the medical examiner, who was assisted by Hart County Coroner Anthony Roberts. The adjacent residence was unoccupied and not damaged, said a press release from the state police.
The Hart County Coroner pronounced the person dead upon removal. The cause of death is unknown, and the body has been taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for an autopsy, the press release said.
The ongoing death investigation is being conducted by Detective Courtney Milam. She was assisted at the scene by the state police’s Special Operations Personnel, the Hart County Sheriffs Office, the Lynnwood Volunteer Fire Department, Hart County Coroner’s Office and the Hart Emergency Medical Service, the press release said.
