SUMMER SHADE — The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury collision on KY 90 near Summer Shade around 10:05 a.m. Monday.
The crash occurred when a 2016 Toyota being operated by 42-year-old Robert Amback, of Crestwood, was traveling east on KY 90 at a slow speed. A 2005 Kenworth truck operated by 55-year-old Gary Dile of Greensburg was also traveling east on KY 90 following Amback when he attempted to pass. While Dile was passing, Amback attempted to make a left turn onto Pitcock Road into the path of Dile resulting in the crash, said a Kentucky State Police press release.
Amback and Dile were both wearing their seat belts. The Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Service transported both to T.J. Samson Hospital in Glasgow with non-life threatening injuries, the press release said.
The state police arrested Amback, charging him with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and he was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center, the press release said.
Amback has since been released from jail on his own recognizance, according to the jail’s website.
Sergeant Randall Honeycutt investigated the collision, and was assisted by the Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office, Barren-Metcalfe EMS, and Summer Shade Fire Department.
