A Hart County Detention Center inmate who escaped while on work detail Tuesday was captured by police following a vehicle chase. 

Cody D. Dubree was arrested after a vehicle pursuit that ended in a cornfield near the Barren and Edmonson County line. 

According to a Kentucky State Police news release, troopers located a 1986 Nissan pickup truck on Mayhew Road in Barren County at about 4:27 p.m. 

After the vehicle chase, Dubree led troopers on a foot pursuit before he was ultimately captured and taken back to the Hart County Detention Center, according to the new release. 

Dubree faces additional charges of: 

• Theft by unlawful taking($500 or more but under $10,000)

• Second-degree escape 

• First-degree fleeing or evading police(motor vehicle) 

• First-degree fleeing or evading police(on foot)

• First-degree wanton endangerment(police officer)

• First-degree criminal mischief 

• Driving on a DUI-suspended license(second offense)

• Reckless driving 

• Failure to wear seat belts 

• Resisting arrest 

In the news release, KSP thanked the public for "the cooperation and information that led to the capture of Cody Dubree." 


An inmate from the Hart County Detention Center escaped from work detail Tuesday, according to a press release from the Kentucky State Police.

KSP received a call at 11:54 a.m. Tuesday from the Hart County jail requesting assistance in locating an escaped inmate who had fled from work detail, the press release states. According to jail staff, inmate Cody D. Dubree had gained access to a 1986 Nissan pickup without consent, and had left a property located off of Bluegrass Avenue in Hart County.

Dubree is a white male, 5’9” and approximately 180 pounds, according to the press release. “Dubree has brown eyes, brown hair and was last seen wearing a gray shirt, blue jeans and a gray hat.”

The inmate was last seen operating the stolen truck with the license plate “077VHG” near the area of 100 Bluegrass Avenue in Horse Cave, the press release states.

The investigation, led by Trooper Jonathan McChesney, is ongoing.
