A Greensburg man's body was recovered from Barren River Lake on Sept. 3, Allen County Coroner Darren Davis confirmed to the Glasgow Daily Times, which had received a citizen inquiry about it, on Wednesday in a phone call.

Davis said the preliminary autopsy report for Darrell Morrison, 56, states that his cause of death was consistent with drowning. He had been reported missing Sept. 2 but hadn't been seen since Sept. 1, the coroner said.

Morrison was found by members of the Allen County Rescue Squad and an Allen County Sheriff's Office deputy in the Oakmont Bay area, near the Maynard community in Allen County, which was the same area where he was reported as last being seen, Davis said.

The coroner referred other questions to the Allen County Sheriff's Office, which was conducting the investigation. Initial attempts to reach ACSO personnel who could provide further information were unsuccessful.

L.R. Petty Funeral Home in Campbellsville confirmed that Morrison was the same person by that name for whom it had handled arrangements. Morrison's obituary on the L.R. Petty website says that he had a request of no public visitation or funeral, which was honored, and he was interred at Greensburg Cemetery.

Morrison was a self-employed heating, ventilation and air conditioning technician for many years and was an employee of Knight's Mechanical at the time of his death, according to the obituary.

“He enjoyed the lake life, fishing and visiting family and friends when he wasn’t working,” it says.
