A Glasgow man was arrested Sunday on drug and other charges after being pursued by police on McKenna Street.
Glasgow Police Officer Andrew Moore saw Julio Alonso, 37, running south on McKenna Street from Glasgow Police Officer Allen Riddle who first made contact with Alonso on Frazier Street, said a Glasgow Police Department press release.
Alonso was arrested by the police officers on Rachel Court. The police officers found a backpack in the area where Alonso was running that contained digital scales and methamphetamine, the press release said.
Alonso was charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (first offense, greater than 2 grams of methamphetamine) and for carrying a concealed weapon, the press release said.
The arrest was made by Moore, who was assisted by Riffle and Sgt. Jessie Barton, the press release said.
Alonso was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond, according to the jail website.
