A Glasgow man was arrested after police allege he put acid on a dog in an attempt to torture and kill the animal.
On Friday, the Glasgow Police Department responded to the BRAWA shelter in response to a complaint that a dog had been neglected.
Officer Wesley Hicks investigated the case and determined that Donnie R. Johnson, 64, had tortured the dog and put acid on it, a news release issued Wednesday morning said.
"Officers seized several chickens and a cat from his residence on Hidden Lake Road. The tortured dog had to be euthanized due to his injuries," the news release said.
Johnson was arrested and charged with second-degree cruelty to animals and torture dog/cat with serious physical injury or death. He remained in the Barren County Detention Center as of Wednesday morning.
GPD was assisted by Glasgow-Barren County Animal Control.
