A former Mammoth Cave National Park employee will be required to pay nearly $170,000 in restitution and serve two years in prison after having pled guilty to an embezzlement charge in June.
Leslie Lewis, 60, of Cave City, originally pleaded not guilty in U.S. District Court to the charge. She was accused of embezzling more than $170K on Feb. 23, 2018 during her employment with the national park's Division of Interpretation and Visitors Services in fee management, according to court records.
She was also sentenced to two years in prison Wednesday.
In addition to paying the nearly $170,000 in restitution, Lewis will also be required to pay a special penalty assessment in the amount of $100, according to court records.
