The Park City Commission voted Monday night to give Mayor Larry Poteet permission to sign an option for the purchase of 18 acres of land.
The decision was made after the city commission met in closed session for deliberations on the future acquisition or sale of real property.
The 18 acres of land is within the city's limits, but its actual location has not been made public.
“I can't disclose where at this time,” Poteet said after the city commission meeting.
He did say, however, that the land was for the location of a distillery in Park City.
Poteet spoke to members of the Barren County Economic Authority at their July 12 meeting. During that meeting, he requested $110,000 in funding.
BCEA approved the funding request after Poteet explained the company, whose identity has not yet been revealed, is interested in buying 18 acres for the location of a distillery, plus a tasting room and rack houses.
Of the $110,000 contributed by BCEA, $90,000 will be used to purchase land and $20,000 to clear it.
