A Cave City Councilman who has been recovering from a stroke since June is now home.
Kevin Houchens was undergoing rehabilitation at Frazier Rehab Center in Louisville, but was released to come home last week.
“He's doing really, really good. He's home. He's talking. He's alert. He's doing wonderful. Every day is there is a little bit of improvement,” said his brother, Cave City Councilman Mike Houchens, on Monday night.
Kevin Houchens is currently serving his third term as a member of the city council. He was first elected to the city council in 2014.
His brother expected him to attend Monday night's city council meeting, but explained at the end of the meeting that Kevin Houchens had received therapy earlier on Monday and was not able to attend the city council meeting.
“He's doing good,” Mike Houchens said.
Kevin Houchens was one of two city council members who suffered strokes on the same weekend in early June. Larry Davidson was the other councilman who had a stroke, but has since recovered and has been attending city council meetings.
