A Burkesville woman was killed Monday morning in a crash on Ky. 90 in Cumberland County, according to a state police press release.
April M. Thompson, 30, of Burkesville, was driving east on Ky. 90 when the 2006 Chevy van she was operating crossed the center line and struck a 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Robert Nissley, 50, of Monticello.
The collision happened seven miles west of Burkesville at about 3 a.m. Monday.
Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Cumberland County Corner, according to the press release.
Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash.
Nissley attempted to avoid the collision and drove his vehicle off the roadway into a ditch following the collision. He and 15-year-old passenger, Caleb Nissley, were both wearing seatbelts and were treated at Cumberland County Hospital before being released.
Jared Nissley, 13, was in the sleeper cab of the tractor-trailer when the crash occurred. He was unrestrained and suffered a broken leg, according to the press release. He was transported to University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
Trooper Logan Richardson is investigating the crash.
He was assisted at the scene by Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Derek Cundiff, and Cumberland County Emergency Medical Services and volunteer fire department personnel.
