A large crowd took advantage of temperatures in the 50s, despite strong winds, to come out to watch the Glasgow Christmas Parade on Sunday night in 2018. The parade, which featured more than 160 entries, was originally scheduled to take place Saturday but was rescheduled for Sunday because of rain.

The 2020 Glasgow Barren County Chamber of Commerce Community Christmas Parade will be, per tradition, on the first Saturday in December this year — Dec. 5, 2020.

The theme of this year’s Christmas Parade is “Heroes of 2020,” with the local doctors, nurses, healthcare providers and first responders as grand marshall.

In keeping with the CDC’s and the governor’s mandates the Chamber requests all floats and parade units to limit the maximum number of people riding the unit to 10 people.

In addition, the parade route will extend South on South Green Street and dismount at the South Gate Shopping Center area. The extended route is being planned to assure the ability to social distance during the Covid-19 crisis. Spectators are asked to wear masks and try to remain with their families.

Christmas Parade applications will be available for pick-up in the Chamber office Thursday, Oct. 1, or by download at the Chamber website, www.glasgowbarrenchamber.com.

The application, along with a $15 entry fee must be received by Friday, Nov. 6, 2020. The applications and entry fees are to be submitted to the Glasgow Barren County Chamber of Commerce, 118 E. Public Square in downtown Glasgow.

After Friday, Nov. 6, an entry fee of $30 will be charged. Fill out one application per each unit to enter. Absolutely no applications will be accepted after Friday, Nov. 20, at 4 p.m. Units that do not complete an application by this time cannot be in the Christmas Parade
