Two different local organizations emphasizing cultural diversity reported to the Glasgow City Council on Monday night.
Alma Glover, Krissie Coe Fields and Janice Crenshaw all spoke on behalf of groups they were a part of and which have events happening soon.
Glover and Fields told the council about the 12th annual Global Fest happening Sept. 1 on the Glasgow square and its importance to the local community.
“This is a cultural awareness festival,” Glover told the council. “In order for us to come together as a community and get things done we need to work together.”
The Global Fest, which started in the parking lot of the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center, represents all the cultures that make up Glasgow in a different way than any other event.
