Intrepid USA Healthcare Services Glasgow office has received two Home Health Quality Improvement Excellence Awards from Health Care Excel of Kentucky, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Awards recognize agencies that exhibit a commitment to superior care and strive to better serve their customers, staff and communities.

Education on quality improvement techniques and implementing successful strategies has helped Intrepid USA Healthcare Services to improve performance in patient care. Intrepid USA Healthcare Services has demonstrated significant accomplishments in the areas of improving pain management and patient mobility (walking), demonstrating their strong commitment to quality care.

Intrepid USA Healthcare Services, formed in 1969 by the Somerset City Hospital (Home Health) offers services including skilled nursing, occupational, speech and physical therapies, medical social services, personal care, EPSDT, respite and waiver. Offices located throughout the Lake Cumberland area serve Adair, Barren, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Hart, McCreary, Metcalfe, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor, Warren and Wayne counties.

“Recipients of these awards reflect their commitment to provide quality home health care services,” said Mitzi Daffron, executive director of the Medicare QIO. “Achieving excellence in home health care is a combination of quality improvement education, planning, implementation and the evaluation of improvement efforts.”

To qualify for the awards, an agency must also demonstrate commitment to the Home Health Quality Initiative (HHQI) by attending educational sessions and submitting action plans. “Health Care Excel has been an invaluable resource to us in helping Intrepid develop and evaluate care processes,” said Miriam Mullins with Intrepid. “We are very proud of our employees’ hard work and dedication to quality improvement for their patients. We are now able to see quantifiable results from our efforts,” Mullins added.

The Home Health Quality Improvement Award was created in response to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) national HHQI’s goal to assist home health agencies and patients achieve significant, measurable improvements in health outcomes.
