Anniversaries: Oct. 4, 2009

Mr. and Mrs. James R. Lear

Mr. and Mrs. James R. “Jim” Lear will celebrate 50 years of marriage on Oct. 16, 2009.

Jim and the former Wanda McDonald were classmates at Farmersburg Elementary School and began dating in high school. They were married at the Farmersburg Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 16, 1959.

After graduating from Indiana State University with a bachelor of science degree in business, Jim began his career with Terre Haute Mutual Federal Savings and Loan Association. He worked 40 years with the bank, serving the last 14 as its president and chief executive officer. Jim continues to be involved in several community and professional boards and is very involved in his church and the church choir.

Wanda worked 18 years in banking at Peoples State Bank in Farmersburg then retired to enjoy the many activities of her family and involved herself in various community organizations.

They are loved and admired by their two children, Jill Lear Williams and James R. “Dick” Lear II. Jill and her husband, Dr. Robert “Bill” Williams III live in Austin, Texas, and Dick and his wife, Dr. Lisa Nonweiler Lear, live in Tucson, Ariz. Jill and Bill have two daughters, Maddi Lear Williams and Rory Suzanne Williams, who adore their Nana and Papa.

The golden anniversary will be celebrated on Sunday, Oct. 4, at noon in the fellowship hall of the Farmersburg Presbyterian Church on East Main Street in Farmersburg. Cards of congratulations would be enjoyed and may be mailed to Jim and Wanda Lear, P.O. Box 131, Farmersburg, IN 47850.
