5:03 AFTERNOON UPDATE: FRECC nears end of power restoration effort

GLASGOW — 5:03  P.M. UPDATE: FRECC was working on its last few outage locations, all in the area roughly between Munfordville and Mammoth Cave National Park, with fewer than 20 members out of power, according to the utility's Outage Viewer on its website.

This morning, approximately 2,800 members were without power. By noon, that number was reduced to 1,100, and by 2 p.m. it was 250, according to updates from FRECC.

It is possible that new outages could occur, depending on the conditions in the area, however. See the noon update below for additional general information on how to track these.

12:08 P.M. UPDATE: Farmers Rural Electric Cooperative Corp. issued the following statement at noon:

Due to recent accumulation of ice and sleet, Farmers RECC currently has approximately 1100 members without power. Service has been restored to 60 percent of members who had originally experienced outages. All available crews have been assigned and are working to restore power as safely and quickly as possible. Additional crews have been called in to assist. We anticipate total restoration today.

Primary causes of outage are downed trees due to ice accumulation.

Please report power outages to Farmers RECC at (800) 253-2191. For current outage information check the Farmers RECC Outage Viewer at [[the FRECC website].

Farmers RECC reminds its members to stay away from fallen power lines. Assume that any line is conducting electricity. During outages, call Farmers RECC ONLY to report downed power lines at (800) 253-2191.
