7:01 EVENING UPDATE: GWC working on water line breaks

GLASGOW —

Glasgow Water Co. is in the process of repairing water main breaks that are affecting roughly 200 to 250 customers, said Scott Young, general manager.

Boil water advisories are being issued only as a precaution because of a loss of pressure in the system; there are no known contaminants in the system, he said. Anyone affected by an advisory will have a notice hand-delivered by staff members, and most of those have already been distributed, Young said.

One break is affecting customers from 4556 to 6200 Old Bowling Green Road, 160 to 2820 Siddens Road, and all of Garrett's Hideout Road and Old Davidson Road.

Another affects 502 to 812 Columbia Ave. and all of Reed Avenue, Shirley Drive, Marion Drive, Bale Terrace and Davis Street.

A third break is affecting customers from 102 to 312 S. Franklin St.

Other breaks may occur as the frozen ground continues to thaw and shift, Young said.

Although the office is closed, customer service representatives are there to take reports of any new issues that arise, he said.
