9:14 MORNING UPDATE: Hart County collision leads to manslaughter charges

BOWLING GREEN — A Munfordville woman died Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle that reported swerved to miss a disabled vehicle in the roadway, according to a Kentucky State Police press release.

KSP Post 3 personnel responded to collision in Hart County at 6:32 p.m., according to the statement, which goes on to state that Timothy Mabe, 39, of Bonnieville was traveling south in the 600 block of Lone Star Road, northwest of Bonnieville, when he approached a disable vehicle in the roadway and swerved to avoid colliding with it, according to the trooper leading the investigation.

In the process, Mabe’s vehicle struck Judy M. Riggs, 63, a pedestrian who had been a passenger in the disabled vehicle, the press release states. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Hart County Coroner Jeff Roten.

Timothy Mabe was charged with the following: manslaughter, second degree; driving under the influence, first offense, aggravated circumstances; and leaving the scene of an accident and was lodged in the Hart County Jail, according to the statement.

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Trooper Jeremy Smith, who was assisted on scene by Sgt. Derek Grant,Troopers Wes Medley and Brett Coomes, Deputy Joey Cox, Bonnieville Fire Department and the Hart County Coroner’s Office.
