10:41 MORNING UPDATE: BCSO investigates HVAC thefts at area churches


The Barren County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of HVAC units have been stolen from two area churches this week, according to a BCSO press release.

BCSO personnel responded to Oak Grove Methodist Church on Tuesday afternoon after someone saw three white males leaving the church with the heating-ventilation-air conditioning system in the back of a pickup truck at approximately 1:15 p.m. The truck was described as being 1980s model GMC or Chevrolet painted with black primer, according to the statement.

The second theft occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. at Browders Chapel Baptist Church on New Bowling Green Road. A neighbor saw a red-looking step-side Ford Ranger pickup parked behind the church, according to the BCSO statement. When a member of the church drove through the parking lot Wednesday morning, he saw that the HVAC unit was missing. The thefts are believed to be related, and the Barren County Sheriff’s Office is asking for anyone who may have any information in reference to these thefts to call 270-651-2771 or the tip line at 270-646-8771.
