CCHD commended

Editor, Daily Press:

I am writing to commend the Cherokee County Health Department and the efficient process they have employed this year to distribute not only seasonal flu vaccines, but also H1N1 vaccines.

Each year, we obtain flu shots for our family members. Sometimes it goes quickly and smoothly, and other times it is a bit chaotic. This year, when obtaining a seasonal flu shot for our daughter, we arrived at the clinic and were quickly directed to the door by personnel outside the clinic. There we were given necessary forms, which were completed and returned to more personnel in the hallway, who asked us to follow arrows to the waiting area.

In the waiting area we were asked to sit in specific seats to maintain a first-come, first-served method of processing patients. We were called into the clinic area and within 10 minutes of arriving at the clinic, we were on our way back home.

Early last week, I called the Cherokee County Health Department regarding H1N1 vaccines and spoke to Michelle. I’m sorry I did not get her last name. She was very helpful and assisted me in setting up an appointment for our 11-year-old daughter to get her H1N1 flu shot. At the appointment, the nurse was very efficient and helpful, and again, we were on our way in less than five minutes.

Our thanks to the Cherokee County Health Department for continuing to provide many important services to the citizens of our county and especially for their perfected system this year during this time of national, even international, concern over the rapid progress of the H1N1 virus.
