Trojanettes slip by Caverna, 57-55

GLASGOW — The Barren County Trojanettes more than halved their number of turnovers from Friday night and the result was a two-point win at Caverna on Tuesday.

“We ran our stuff pretty well. Our passing was good,” explained Trojanette head coach John Butler following his team’s 57-55 win over the Lady Colonels.

In a 41-point loss Friday to Monroe County, Barren committed 32 turnovers, Butler said. The team had only 14 Tuesday.

“I’m really proud of the way we bounced back,” Butler said. “We beat a good Caverna team.”

The Lady Colonels were hoping to get their first win against Barren in more than 14 years. The teams have not played every year of the last 14, but have played on several occasions during that timespan.

Caverna lost on Friday to Green County by 3, a team which had beaten Barren by 12 earlier this season.

“We gave it away. We gave up too many 3s. You cannot win ball games when you miss free throws, don’t close out on 3-point shooters and without enough effort,” said Lady Colonels head coach Cornelius Faulkner. “Barren County played harder than we did tonight.”
