The Glasgow High School Scotties have run through a gauntlet of a schedule lately, battling regional powerhouse teams like John Hardin, Barren County, Warren Central, South Warren and Allen County-Scottsville. And battling through that kind of lineup can take its toll on any team.
However, the confidence head coach John Tinsley expressed in his team throughout the rough road has paid off. The Scotties, riding a six-game losing streak, got back on the winning track Monday night when they blew open a close game to roll to a 71-53 victory over Todd County Central in the first game of the All ‘A’ Region 4 Basketball Classic.
“We needed this. It always feels good to get back on the winning side, but I have said all along that we’ve been getting better with every game,” Tinsley said. “When you play the John Hardins of the world and the Warren Centrals of the world, you’re going to have a tough time.
"“But in saying all of that, I thought we just refused to lose in the second half tonight against a stubborn, a very disciplined, and a very fundamentally sound Todd County Central team. There’s a reason they’ve beaten some very good teams lately. They’re a very scary team, so it was good to see us execute so well in the second half.”
