HORSE CAVE —
A depleted Caverna High School Colonels basketball team couldn’t muster much offense Monday night as they dropped a 68-49 decision to visiting Adair County.
The Colonels, playing without starters Aaron Reed and Josh Davis, got down early and could never recover as the Colonels battled before falling to the 19-point margin.
“I think Adair County played pretty well tonight and I thought they shot the ball really well,” said Caverna coach Blake Button. “I think it makes a difference whether you have a senior in there guarding some of those positions or if you have a sophomore in there.”
The Colonels tallied only six points in the first quarter and fell behind early as the Indians led 16-6 at the buzzer. Caverna tried to rally in the second quarter as Tyrone Franklin and Mason Faulkner started to score in transition.
But the Colonels still trailed by 10, 32-22, at the intermission.
