Glasgow Daily Times

GLASGOW — Trey Tinsley capped a furious Glasgow High School rally with a jumper with 3.6 seconds to go in the game Friday night to give the Scotties a 52-50 victory over Wayne County in the semifinals of the TJ Samson Community Hospital Holiday Basketball Classic at GHS.

Trailing 29-19 at the intermission, the Scotties methodically cut away at a Wayne County lead that reached as high as 15 points in the final two quarters.

A six-point surge midway through the third period cut the Wayne County lead to 40-31 with 2:08 to go in the quarter. Thomas Kingery, Quentel Bradley and Ryne Tinsley led the Scottie charge with baskets in the paint.

The two teams exchanged baskets the rest of the way and the Cardinals were able to extended their lead over Glasgow back to double digits at 43-31 as the final eight minutes began.

Steely Harris took over in the final quarter for the Scotties, tallying five of the first seven points of the period to help the Scotties pull within nine at 45-36 with 7:11 to go in the game. Wayne County came fighting back, but back-to back 3-pointers from Harris and Trey Tinsley brought Glasgow to within two at 47-45 with 4:28 on the clock.
