A cornerstone of any John Tinsley-coached team is defense. And Tinsley, the head boys’ basketball coach at Glasgow High School, wants his team to be one of the best defensive teams in the region, if not the state.
And if the Scotties’ 68-45 victory Tuesday night over visiting Logan County is any indication, Glasgow is well on the way to getting where Tinsley wants it to be.
“We knew they could run and we knew they would make baskets in transition. We wanted to do a really good job getting Logan County off the 3-line,” Coach Tinsley said. “We wanted to make them earn everything. Saying that, I thought we did a good job overall tonight.”
The Scotties jumped out to an early lead and never really looked back. The inside play of Jacob Poynter, balanced with the outside shooting of Trey Tinsley, kept the Logan County defense off balance for most of the night. Glasgow had a double-digit lead heading into the third period and the Cougars never threatened the rest of the way.
