Caverna opens 2013 season Friday at Eminence

GLASGOW — For Rodney Middleton and the Caverna High School Colonels, Friday’s football game at Eminence High School is very important.

Not only do the Colonels need to get into the win column, Caverna also needs a victory to build some confidence. Middleton said a season-opening victory would mean a lot to his team.

“The keys for us Friday night are simple,” Middleton said. “We’ve got to get over the first-game jitters. It’s been a long time since (2008) we’ve won the first game of the season, and we need get that win.

“Also, we’ve got to play well on our special teams. We need to make a big play somewhere, returning a punt for a touchdown, or blocking a kick. We need to do something to change the momentum of the game.’
