Rodney Middleton, the head football coach at Caverna High School, came into the season with high expectations for his young team. Despite the youth on the squad, Middleton believed the Colonels had the potential to pick up some early wins this season before they head into their very tough district schedule.
Unfortunately, the Colonels have run into some struggles so far this season and come into Friday’s Homecoming battle with Clinton County sporting an 0-4 record.
“We can’t go 0-5,” said Middleton. “This game Friday is crucial for us. I think the game is the turning point of the season. It would give us a big boost heading into next week. Then we have a week off before we head into the district.
“We’re at the point, I think, where the kids are questioning themselves. We’ve done a lot of good things on offense and defense this season. We just haven’t been able to put everything together.”
Friday’s kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Homecoming ceremonies will begin at 6:30 p.m.
