The Glasgow High School Lady Scotties got a balanced offensive attack Tuesday night when they knocked off region powerhouse Bowling Green by a 73-58 score.
The Lady Scotties jumped out on top of the Lady Purples early in the game and never looked back. Glasgow led 14-6 after one period, then outscored Bowling Green 19-10 in the second quarter to take a commanding 35-16 lead into the locker room at intermission. The Lady Scotties led 62-37 as the fourth quarter got started.
Bre Glover led the Glasgow offensive charge with 26 points. She got help from Emily Alexander with 14 points and Elli Bartley with 13. Shalika Smith tallied 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Lady Scotties, while Allie Chapman and Heidi Holgate had four points each. Skyler Burd scored two.
“It was a nice win over a very good team,” said Glasgow coach Justin Stinson. “Overall, I was pleased with how we played.”
Glasgow will host Warren Central on Friday night. Tipoff for the varsity game is set for 7:30 p.m.
Lady Falcons roll over Clinton County
The Monroe County Lady Falcons put three players in double figures Tuesday night as they rolled over Clinton County 73-39 in girls’ basketball action.
“This was the Monroe County team we’ve been looking for,” said Julie Nuckols, Monroe County assistant coach. “We had good leadership and we played good team basketball. It was a good win for us.”
Reagan Turner led the way for Monroe County with 18 points. Lauren Turner scored 17 and Kayla Murray had 10. Kellimae Polston chipped in with eight points, while Payton Cloyd and Lakota Ethridge tallied four points each. Ashlee McGeorge scored four for the Lady Falcons. Kelsey Johnson and Claire Bybee got two points a piece.
Monroe County took the early lead with a 13-10 advantage after the first quarter. The Lady Falcons widened their margin in the second quarter, outscoring Clinton County 26-10 in the period to lead 39-20 at the intermission.
Monroe County visits Barren County for a big District 15 contest on Friday. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
