Wood 'cautiously optimistic' about 2013 season

GLASGOW — Experience is a valuable commodity for any football team and this year the Glasgow High School Scotties return a lot of players with varsity experience on both sides of the ball. However, with that experience comes high expectations and the best effort from every opponent on the schedule.

“When you start the year, everyone is in the same boat. We’ve got to get better and right now, we’re cautiously optimistic,” said Glasgow coach Rick Wood. “That would be my description. We’ve won 24 games over the last two years, but no one is going to give you anything. The more success you have puts a bigger target on your back.”

And the first opponent looking to find that target will be Hart County. The Scotties will face the Raiders Saturday in the TJ Samson Bowl at Glasgow High School. Kickoff is expected around 8 p.m. Barren County and Metcalfe County will play in the first game of the night at 5 p.m.
