If it’s been difficult to find John Petett at his Monroe County High School office this past summer, it is somewhat understandable. After all, Petett and the Falcons are coming off one of their best football seasons in school history as Monroe County tries to follow up on a 12-2 year that included a trip to the state semifinals. Gone from that team are more than 20 seniors, many of whom started on offense and defense.
This year, the Falcons are loaded with youth. However, Monroe County’s cupboards aren’t completely bare. And as the Falcons prepare for their season opener on Friday at powerhouse Wayne County, Petett is anxious to see exactly where his team stands.
