Shalika Smith, the talented rising senior at Glasgow High School, can exhale now because she sent a message to college basketball coaches everywhere this week when she announced she has verbally committed to play basketball at Western Kentucky University.
“I am excited,” said Smith. “Recruiting can be a little hectic, a little stressful because you’re afraid you might say something that could hurt your future. So, I am looking forward to relaxing a little bit my senior year.”
“There is not a more deserving kid to play in a Division I basketball program than Shalika,” said Glasgow Coach Justin Stinson. “And to do that with a program with as much history as Western, a program on the upswing as much as Western, and under a head coach (Michelle Clark-Heard) that I have enormous amount of respect for (is great)."
