BARREN COUNTY SOFTBALL: Trojanettes blister Monroe 13-2

GLASGOW — The Barren County Trojanettes pounded Monroe County on Monday, 13-2, in Tompkinsville, in a 15th District game.

Barren scored six runs in the fourth inning to break open the game. They scored on a wild pitch, an RBI single by Cheyenne Cumberland, an error and another wild pitch.

Cumberland racked up three RBIs in the game on two hits, including a home run.

Makenzie Wells got the win. She struck out seven Lady Falcon batters. She allowed one earned run on three hits and three walks in seven innings.

Makayla Kirk was charged with the loss for Monroe. She allowed 13 runs, walked four and struck out none in seven innings.

Barren led 1-0 in the top of the first inning when Hadleigh Hammer reached base on a single. She moved to third on a ground out by Amber Jones and eventually scored.

The Trojanettes added two runs in the third inning on a double by Shelby Wood.

Barren added two runs in both the fifth and seventh innings.

Hammer had two singles in the game, while Natalie Staples added a double and a single.

Brilee Houchens, Abby Elmore, Maggie Bellamy, and Jones had one single each for the game.
