Trojanettes win scrimmage with Adair

GLASGOW — Jill Kinslow, the girls’ golf coach at Barren County High School, has been touting the potential her 2013 squad all summer long. The Trojanettes lost two seniors from last year’s team, but Kinslow is still excited about what she’s seen so far in preseason practice.

And on Thursday, Barren County gave Kinslow a reason to be excited as the Trojanettes rolled over Adair County in a scrimmage match by a score of 167-237.

“We lost Amber Jewell and Brooke Renfro from last year’s team and anytime you lose players like that, it is a big loss,” Kinslow explained. “But going into this year, I am excited. The girls have come together well as a team and they’re playing well.”

Kylie Withrow led the Trojanettes in scoring Thursday when she shot a 39 on the difficult Barren River Lake State Park. Kayla Wyatt shot 41 and Lyn-Dawson Steenbergen carded a 43. Jill Florence, only an eighth-grader, shot 44, while Cortney Withrow fired a 47 and Emmory Shipley shot 48.
