For some, this will be a very long weekend.
Several local high school tennis players will be waiting anxiously through the weekend as they prepare for the start of the 2013 Regional Tennis Tournament on Monday in Bowling Green.
“Our singles draw looks a little bit better for us than our doubles draw,” said Barren County coach Trina Rickard. “The Bowling Green schools probably have a little bit more experience than we do in singles, but I think we’ve got a good chance to go far in the tournament.”
“It’s already been a successful year for us, no matter how we finish,” said Glasgow girls’ coach Lora Garrett. “But a good performance in the region would cap off probably my best season in the nine years I’ve been with the team.”
The tournament, which was originally scheduled to begin on Saturday, will get going on Monday afternoon at Bowling Green High School and Kereiakes Park. Match times are expected to be announced Sunday.
