The Barren County High School Trojans were stung by the Portland High (Tenn.) School Panthers’ seventh inning rally Thursday night as Portland scored three in the final frame to take a 5-4 baseball victory.
Going into the seventh with a 4-2 lead, Barren County looked like it had the game wrapped up. But it wasn’t meant to be as the Panthers took advantage of hits by Isaac Robertson and Kaleb Wilson, plus two walks and an error to jump in front.
In the bottom of the seventh, winning pitcher Dach Diseker stopped the Trojans as he sat Barren County down in order with two ground outs and a pop out to first.
Ellis Wininger suffered the loss for the Trojans, going only two innings. He gave up only one hit, while striking out three and walking six.
